Steve Glanvill
MA, VetMB, DBR, OVS, MRCVS


Steve is the Practice Principle having joined the partnership in 1985. Steve is a Farm and Small Animal Vet and has a Diploma in Bovine Reproduction.

Simon Richards
BVSc, OVS, MRCVS


Simon joined the partnership in 1995. He is an Equine Vet and Official Racecourse Vet at Stratford Races.

Gary Jennings
BSc, BVetMed, MRCVS


Gary joined the practice in 2005, to help run the Hook Norton and Charlbury surgeries.
Gary became a Partner in March 2008, with responsibility for the Small Animal department.


 Consultants

Jacek Bobkiewicz
DipVS, CertEqMed (Warsaw), MRCVS


Jacek joined the practice in 2005 and was appointed Director of the Equine Hospital in 2007. Originally working out in Saudia Arabia, Jacek has brought with him a wealth of experience and has set up our colic surgery service.

Alan Walker
BSc, MA, PhD, VetMB, DER, MRCVS


Alan is a former Partner and original founder of the practice. Alan retired from the Partnership in 2006. Now working part-time for the practice in a consultancy role, Alan still regularly attends meets at the Stratford Racecourse.


 Vets

Jan Guilbride
MA, VetMB, MRCVS


Jan has been with the practice since 1989 and is based almost entirely at the Hook Norton surgery. She has an interest in most areas of general practice, but surgery in particular. Jan has helped to establish many of the extra services the Small Animal Department offers, including puppy parties and dental clinics.
Jan has recently completed the approved Veterinary Acupuncture course and is a member of the ABVA (Association of British Veterinary Acupuncture). She runs pet acupuncture treatment sessions at both the Hook Norton and Deddington surgeries.

Juliet Owens
MA, VetMB, MRCVS


Juliet joined the practice in 2002 as a Farm and Small Animal Vet. Following her return from maternity leave, Juliet now covers the Deddington and Hook Norton clinics.

Fiona Nobbs
BVSc, MRCVS


Fiona joined the practice in 2005 to assist within the equine department. She has recently undertaken an intensive Veterinary Acupuncture course and is now fully trained and a member of the ABVA. She currently offers these equine acupuncture treatments both at the surgery and on the yard.

Helen Taylor
MA, VetMB, MRCVS


Helen joined the practice in 2006 following graduation from Cambridge. She is primarily involved with farm work and has responsibility for herd health plans. Helen currently writes the farm newsletter each month giving up to date information and advice on topical healthcare issues. Helen also has a keen interest in mastitis investigation.

Pauline Tolhurst
BVSc, MRCVS


Pauline joined the practice in 2006. She covers clinics at the Charlbury surgery and also at Hook Norton. Pauline has completed the approved Veterinary Acupuncture course and is a member of the ABVA (Association of British Veterinary Acupuncture). She runs these pet acupuncture treatment sessions at both the Hook Norton and Charlbury surgeries.

Bella Clarkson
MA, VetMB, MRCVS


Bella is a small animal Vet and joined the practice in 2003. She works part-time and is based mainly at the Hook Norton surgery. She is especially keen on surgery and opthalmology.

Kathryn Gander
BVSc, MRCVS


Kathryn joined the practice in 2007 to cover clinics at both Hook Norton and Charlbury. Kathryn has a special interest in dermatology.

Sam Baldwyn
BVSc, MRCVS


Sam first came to Hook Norton to see practice when he was at Liverpool University. Following his graduation in July 2007 he joined the practice permanently and is a member of the Farm and Equine team.

Isobel Payne
BVetMed(Hons), MRCVS


Isobel joined the practice at the end of 2008 to cover Juliets duties whilst on maternity leave. She is a mixed practice Vet working mainly in the small animal hospital at Hook Norton plus farm and equine duties.

Sally Hodgson
BVetMed, MRCVS


Sally is an Equine Vet and worked in Lambourn and on the Suffolk coast before joining the practice in March 2010.


 Nurses

Head Nurse

Vicki Harrington
RVN, DipCABT(Coape) NOCN


After qualifying in 1995, Vicki joined the practice in 1998 and has been our Head Nurse since 2005.
She has a specific interest in practical nursing and animal behaviour. Vicki gained a Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour and Training in 2004 and runs the Behavioural Clinics. She is also responsible for the smooth running of our in-house Laboratory.

Sophie Williams
RVN, A1


Chloe Watson
RVN, BSc(Hons), VN A1


Sophie qualified in 2003 and is our Trainee Nurse Assessor. She has a specific interest in practical nursing, rabbit welfare, diabetic cases and nutrition.

Chloe qualified in 2005 and also has a Degree in Veterinary Nursing Science. She has a specific interest in animal nutrition and practical nursing. She is also a Trainee Nurse Assessor alongside Sophie.

Nursing Team

Alongside the Head Nurse and Assistant Head Nurses, the Nursing team provides essential support to the Veterinary Surgeons.

Fran King, VN, qualified in 1982 and her main interest is in practical nursing.

Debbie Thomas, RVN, qualified in 2006 and has an interest in general health, physiotherapy and weight maintenance.

Jill Collier, RVN, qualified in 2007 and has a specific interest in small animal dentistry.

Daisy Baldwyn, RVN, gained her qualification in 2008 and has interests in small animal general health and nutrition.

Lisa Johnson, RVN, FDSc, qualified in 2008 and also gained a Foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing and Practice Management. She has a particular interest in weight management and rabbit welfare.

Emma Carroll, RVN, D32, D33, D34, qualified in 1993 and is based at the Charlbury surgery. She is also a Trainee Nurse Assessor and Internal Verifier for the NVQ part of the Veterinary Nursing Course. She has a specific interest in small animal nutrition.

Liz Taylor, TVN, joined us in 2007 and is currently in her final year of training.

Serena Harris and Molly Johnson are our two Animal Nursing Assistants providing support to the Nursing team.

Equine Nursing Team

Sarah Aston, REVN, has been with the practice since 2004 and completed her Equine Veterinary Nursing qualification in 2008. Sarah oversees the care of all the equine inpatients.

Laura Bennett, has a BA in Equine Business Studies and is a BHS Intermediate Stable Manager. She joined us in 2007 as a trainee Equine Veterinary Nurse.


Nursing support within the Equine Clinic is also provided by Nurses; Vicki, Fran, Debbie, Daisy and Jill.

Amy Edwards joined the practice in September 2009.


 Management

Tony Udall

Tony is our Practice Manager and joined the team in 2005. Tony works closely with the Partners to ensure the smooth and efficient day to day running of the practice.

Lucy Warner

Lucy has been with the practice since 1994. Formerly Practice Manager, Lucy returned to work on a part-time basis following the birth of her two children and is now Projects Manager, co-ordinating long term projects and marketing and development plans.


 Reception

Hook Norton Small Animal

This is covered by 6 receptionists; Val Prew, Sharon Allen, Carole Hazleton, SJ Courage, Teresa Bull and Ros Page. They run a computerised appointment system, cover duties in the dispensary and oversee waiting room and pet food sales.

Large Animal Reception
and Farm Shop


This is run by Liz Harwood and Nikki Inglis and assisted by Lex Merrick and Louise Pile. They ensure the smooth running of the Equine and Farm Vet diaries and are responsible for all the Farm Shop sales. Both Liz and Nikki are RSQPs under the AMTRA qualification. Lex is currently training for this. Liz has also set up an Ear Tagging sales system for our farm clients.

Charlbury Surgery

This busy branch surgery in Charlbury is manned by 3 receptionists; Claire Whitaker, Jane Coverdale and Sarah Wiggins.

Deddington Surgery

Lavinia Crowther and SJ Courage help run the newest of our branch surgeries at Deddington.


 Accounts

Accounts Department

This very busy department is run by 4 members of staff. Ernie Parsons is responsible for the practice accounts and payroll. Jean Laycock oversees the client accounts and payments, whilst Jill Hopcraft and Amanda Glanvill co-ordinate all office admin and debt control.
