We are the proud owners of a video endoscope, a flexible bronchoscope and a rigid rhinoscope. These scopes are essentially small cameras that allow us to examine parts of the body that are hard to view, such as the gastrointestinal tract (oesophagus, stomach and intestines), the airways or the nasal passages. Although animals need to be anaesthetised, scoping is a non-invasive way to view these areas, take biopsies and in some cases even remove foreign objects that animals have inhaled or ingested!
By using these advanced pieces of diagnostic equipment many animals have avoided the need to undergo surgical intervention.
We are lucky enough to have a dedicated diagnostics suite at the Hook Norton hospital where the majority of endoscopy is performed.
