Microchipping your pet massively increases the chances of you being reunited with them if they were to get lost or stolen.
A microchip is a small electronic device, about the size of a grain of rice, which is implanted under the skin. It holds a unique ID number for your pet that is held on a national database along with your contact details. Any missing/stolen pets taken to an authorised person eg. Vet, dog warden or RSPCA inspector will be scanned and their microchip number should lead them back to their rightful owner.
Is your dog legal? From 6th April 2016, all dogs in England, Scotland and Wales must be microchipped and registered to an approved database by time they are 8 weeks old. It is quick and easy to microchip your pet and at HNVG only costs £15.
