Rehabilitation and Electrotherapy
An alternative solution to pain in cats and dogs
PEME (Pulsed Electromagnetic Energy) is a non-invasive treatment for cats and dogs, which works on pulsating electric and magnetic fields in the target area.
It is great for joint pain and can help with treating injuries and be used in conjunction with medical treatment. It can help reduce swellings/excess fluid (oedema), help with fractures and nerve damage and has excellent healing properties on all tissues.
PEME can also help with osteoarthritis and the problems associated with this disease, eg. pain, lack of movement, stiffness. This is something that cannot be cured, but can help to manage this condition.
LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation)is a non-invasive light energy treatment, which is low level/low intensity and is an alternative solution to pain in cats and dogs.
Laser Therapy has long been used in human medicine and can be applied in Veterinary treatment for acute and chronic pain, inflammation, nerve damage and blood vessel damage. Its application is excellent in wound healing and early stages of bone healing (for example fractures). It is also good for osteoarthritis.
Our Rehab nurse Lisa is now offering PEME and Laser therapy services and has attended several courses and visited referral centres such as Noel Fitzpatrick Referrals.
