This year over 150 outbreaks of Equine Influenza (EI) have already been diagnosed and the diagnosis of positive cases is continuing. EI may have dropped out of the tabloids, but that doesn’t mean to say that it isn’t still affecting the equine community. At HNVG we are recommending (and many competition venues are insisting) on 6 monthly flu boosters. Many of our clients who boosted in February, will be due again in August and we are therefore offering a 10% discount on flu or flu and tetanus boosters done in August! Now is the time to check your passports and get your horses and ponies booked in for their 6 month vaccination booster; if necessary we can check our records for you.
Signs of EI include high temperature, coughing, snotty nose, loss of appetite, swollen or sore eyes and swollen lower legs. If you suspect your horse or pony may be affected, please contact us immediately. If your horse or pony isn’t vaccinated, we highly recommend that you start a vaccination course as the virus is highly contagious and airborne.
