Lungworm in Cattle

With the perfect weather for the development of lungworm and cases rising simultaneously, it seems fitting that a new test has been validated for lungworm in cattle.

A new PCR test is available on fresh faeces with the option to pool up to 5 animals. Animals that are coughing or showing suspicious respiratory signs would be ideal to test.

The test is able to pick up dead larvae in smaller amounts than the previous Baermann’s test. Please speak to one of our farm vets to see how this may fit your parasite plan.
