We all have mental health, and, just like our physical health, it needs looking after. Learning more about mental health and the ways to get support can empower people to thrive. That is why it is so important that 16 members of the HNVG team are now Mental Health Champions (MHC). What exactly does that mean? Read on.
HNVG MHCs can assist someone who is developing a mental health issue or is in a mental health crisis. MHCs are trained to spot the signs of someone who may be experiencing mental ill-health and help people find the support they need.
A mental healthy community is creative and productive. We want to make positive change and encourage conversations around mental health.
The aims of physical first aid are to preserve life, prevent further harm, promote recovery and bring comfort to the injured person. MHCs share these aims to:
> Preserve life where a person may be at risk of harm to themselves or others
> Provide help to prevent the mental health issue from becoming more serious
> Provide comfort to a person with a mental health issue
If you feel you need help or support, speak to a Mental Health Champion.
