This will be an opportunity to delve into best practices around lambing time. We will cover the following topics:
• Nutrition of the ewe pre- and post-lambing
• Strategies for improving and maintaining hygiene
• Management of diseases around lambing time
• Record keeping: benchmarks and targets, comparing your farm with the national flock
• Lamb post-mortems
• Metabolic issues
• Vaccinations and wormers: programs and protocols
• Antibiotic treatments and drug therapy, including watery mouth
• Managing moderate to severe dystocia (depending on interest)
• Colostrum measuring, management and replacement
The first date for our experienced course is the 12th of February 2025!
The day will run from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm, and all lunch and refreshments are included. This will be a practical day, on-farm, you’ll need to bring appropriate clothing. £75+VAT per person. Please call our Farm Reception team to book your place!
