Computed Tomography (C.T) is available locally, whereas in the past, animals have had to be referred to specialist centres further afield to benefit from this service.
Computed tomography (C.T.) uses x-rays to produce a 3D image. This allows the accurate diagnosis and treatment planning of a wide range of conditions that can be hard to diagnose on regular x-rays or ultrasounds. A scan takes about 45 minutes during which 150-200 images are produced per animal! These images are then interpreted by an RCVS recognised specialist in diagnostic imaging.
