Farm Laboratory

We have a fully equipped laboratory onsite at the Hook Norton hospital which allows us to get rapid results from any samples we take out on farm visits.

Our qualified nurses are trained to do worm egg, coccidian, fluke and lungworm counts from faecal samples, as well as looking for common bacteria (E.coli), protozoa (Cryptosporidium) and viruses (Rota and Corona) in scouring calves. We can also run basic haematology and biochemistry tests when necessary for sick animals.

For all the other samples and tests we use expert external laboratories that pick up and courier the same day. This includes the samples taken for Premium Health schemes (eg. SAC) that many of our farms are members of.
