Post mortem facilities

A post mortem is an important tool to help investigate the death of livestock and aids in preventing any further losses. We can carry out post-mortems (PMs) on-farm for cattle and in our PM room at the Hook Norton surgery for small ruminants. This facility is fully equipped for the job and allows for a quick diagnosis in conjunction with our onsite laboratory.

It is vital to ensure the specimens are as fresh as possible, as this will improve the chances of finding a conclusive diagnosis.

A full history of the animal’s status on-farm and treatment records for the animals involved are vital to assist the vets in getting the correct diagnosis.
