The team of farm vets and our dedicated Approved Tuberculin Testers (ATTS) continue to provide all of the TB testing for our clients. As you may already be aware TB has spread throughout the area and we have many farms under restriction at any one time.
We are currently contracted to test farms in the Midlands, South East and Wessex regions in England for the respective XL Farmcare businesses. For more information and frequently asked questions, please visit – www.xlfarmcare.co.uk.
We ask that all of our clients provide a safe and efficient working environment for both our staff and your own. If you would like advice on your handling system setup, please speak to one of the vets. At HNVG we have a cattle handling system that is available for hire if you do not have a suitable handling system for TB testing. The handling system will includes a strong cattle crush, 10 gates and a trailer for transport on the roads. If hiring this equipment is of interest to you, please contact the Farm Reception Team for further information.
Please call the surgery with plenty of time before your ‘due date’ for any ministry TB tests. We are usually booking at least a month in advance, and cannot guarantee you the date you prefer if you do not give us enough warning. It is the farmer’s responsibility to book their own tests, not the practices. However, if we see your test has not been booked, we always try to warn you.
We test many animals in private TB tests for our farmers usually pre-sales for store animals or youngstock. Again please try to book well in advance wherever possible and we do our best to fit them in to suit you.
Cattle farmers across the High Risk and Edge Areas of England are eligible to receive FREE, bespoke advice on practical, cost-effective measures to reduce the risks associated with TB. Although TB may seem like a monotonous subject at times, it has a lot of complexity that we are often unable to discuss while on-farm due to time pressures. TBAS visits are a great opportunity for us to explain the testing, PM inspections & lesions etc., in more depth.
We are still offering free of charge TBAS visits with Charlotte, Imogen & Juliet. These consist of two visits, six months apart that will offer a bespoke approach to TB on your farm. We will be approaching TB like every other disease, highlighting risk levels, areas for improvement and discussing solutions for the future. We are able to share the latest data and give insight into possible vaccination & testing in the future. The first visit is two hours long, with a walk around the farm/fields, ending with four main points for improvement. The second visit is six months later to discuss progress and top up on any areas missed, as there will inevitably be more questions!
Please contact us if you would like to book a visit with one of our TBAS advisors.
If you’re worried about your pet and would like to speak to one of our vets then please call your nearest branch or send an email.
