Charlotte Swinford

SA Clinical Lead - Wards, RVN, ISFM DipFN

Charlotte Swinford, AKA Charley, began working at HNVG in 2016 as a vet clinic assistant. Growing up I was never sure what career path I might take, but after taking some time out after my a level exams, I applied for the role at HNVG and have never looked back since!

After a year of working as a clinic assistant I began studying at Moreton Morrell college and completed my training in 2019 to become a registered veterinary nurse.

As an RVN I enjoy many areas of nursing but I would say my passions are being a ‘clinical coach’, feline nursing and inpatient care. It really is the little things that can make our patients feel so much better when they are staying in the hospital. Whether it’s giving them a bath, organising a visit with their owner, getting them to eat or seeing them walk outside for the first time after surgery – I love it all!

I enjoy my role as a ‘Clinical Coach’, coaching student veterinary nurses in practice and seeing them progress in their knowledge and skills; using this to influence the care they deliver to our patients.

I have recently been appointed HNVG’s ‘cat advocate’, having recently gained a diploma in feline nursing from the ISFM (international society of feline medicine). As our cat advocate I help to ensure the safety and welfare of our feline patients during their time in the hospital. My passion for cats extends to my home life too, as I have two beautiful moggies, Henry and Diana!

In 2021 I became a senior nurse through our nursing career pathway. As a senior nurse I work closely Head nurse Sophie to provide support and training to the team, and to ensure we are always delivering the best standards of care to our patients.
