What to do with injured wildlife.

We are incredibly fortunate to live and work in a beautiful rural area, with an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep. With this comes the inevitable responsibility to want to help a sick or injured wild animal.

Knowing when wild animals need help or when it’s best to leave them alone is difficult to ascertain. Monitoring them from a distance for a time is a really good way to assess how bad their condition is and whether they need treatment. It’s really important to remember that wildlife see humans as predators, which means they will try to hide injuries or illness from us.

Some websites can help you assess whether an animal is in need of veterinary care or whether they should be left alone. The British Deer Society, RSPCA, and Tiggywinkles are three excellent examples. Use the links below to find out more about a wild animal that you think could be in distress.
