At HNVG we are always on the lookout for canine blood donors to help save the lives of other dogs in critical situations where we wouldn’t have time to get a unit of blood from the Pet Blood Bank.
On the 17th of March, we are holding an evening clinic (by appointment only) to assess whether your dog could join our blood donor register. They will receive a FREE health check by a vet, a goodie bag and have their blood typed so that we can ensure they are suitable for future donations.
Is your dog a suitable donor?
We are always looking for more blood donors, however, we recommend that they fit the following criteria:
>>Be between 1-8 years of age
>> Fit and healthy
>> Weigh more than 25 kgs in LEAN weight (important that they are not overweight)
>>Ideally, female dogs to be neutered, however, definitely not currently pregnant or previously had litters of puppies
>> Fully vaccinated and NEVER travelled abroad
>> Not receiving any medications and no previous history of receiving a transfusion themselves
MOST IMPORTANTLY: A calm and friendly temperament at the vets, with a fondness for lots of fuss and treats!
Why should my dog give blood?
Besides enormous satisfaction that your dog has helped save the life of another dog, you will receive a £50 credit to your account every time your dog donates in an emergency.
Everyone at HNVG is so grateful for you and your dog’s help!
To book your dog into our Canine Blood Donor Drive Clinic please contact our SA Reception team at Hook Norton and ask to speak to one of the Nursing Team.
