Many pets are afraid of fireworks, due to the loud noises (e.g. bangs and whistling) that they make.
How can I help if my pet is feeling scared?
Dogs:
Ensure they are kept inside, with all windows and doors closed
Close the curtains and turn the TV or radio on (if they are used to these noises) to muffle the sound of the fireworks
Avoid leaving your pet alone in the house
Ensure that they have a bed or safe area that they can go to if they want to
Do not take them out for a walk at night when fireworks are likely to be set off
Cats:
Keep your cat indoors
Ensure all windows and doors are closed
Ensure that your cat has a warm, safe area that they can hide away in, preferably somewhere that is usually their favourite place to go
Provide a litter tray, water bowl and food/treats
Avoid leaving your pet alone if they are stressed or frightened
